Sei gesegnet ohne Ende

Be blessed without end, also known as the core floor anthem, was from 1929 to 1938, the national anthem of the First Austrian Republic, and of the Corporate State.

History of Anthem

The anthem of the First Republic, the so-called Renner- Kienzl anthem German Austria, you was, though never officially, in 1920, first glorious country. But you could ultimately against for generations especially well familiar among the middle classes, not enforce sung as a national anthem in various versions in the Empire of Austria Imperial anthem with the melody by Joseph Haydn. This you do not yet succeeded even then, as on 11 August 1922, the German Reich President Friedrich Ebert officially declared that Germany song with the same melody by Haydn for the German national anthem.

Skip to second anthem of the First Republic and the Austro-fascist corporate state in 1929 in its place - after it had already given 1922 advances to raise them to the national anthem - at the request of the Christian Socialist Army Minister Carl Vaugoin the core Stock anthem written in 1920 by Ottokar Kernstock had been. It was like the national anthem sung to Haydn's melody, the third verse ( " Easter country you are commanded " ), however, was not part of the anthem.

"Be blessed without end " was not the only proposal for an Austrian national anthem. Anton wild goose as suggested in February 1929 in front of Richard Strauss, set to music a poem as Austrian song, which indeed did Richard Strauss ( separator 259, Azov, Op 78; premiere on January 10, 1930 in the Great Hall of the Vienna Musikverein ), but in a little folk, as not easily singable manner:

Where the eternal snow Reflected in alpine lake, Torrent the rock atomized Contained works drives, [ ... ] Austria is called the land! Since he 's with gracious hand Created, and so richly endowed, God loveth it had!

The determination of the core floor anthem as the Haydn melody singing national anthem until 1938, however, led to an Austrian anthem chaos as the tendency of these polarized time went there to sing partisan songs instead of patriotic songs. Decreed about the Vienna School Board that " Germany above all " was to sing, so the Ministry of Education countered with an edict that only the core floor anthem should be used. Depending on the political orientation of the singing of Haydn's melody, the core floor anthem that francisco - Josephinian national anthem or could " Germany, Germany above all " are highlighted so that the singing of the hymn in public events, possibly in more ways than one in dissonance could end.

From 1936 it was in the course of the martyr cult of Engelbert Dollfuss usual, with the same salute to sing the song of youth, especially at school occasions right after the national anthem.

Popular core floor anthem, however, is no more become like the Renner- Kienzl anthem. The one and the other was obsolete after the end of the Third Reich, and no attempts have been made to its revival.

So was found in the first verse instead of native soil the formulation German homeland, and honestly at the point of the word was honest. In the first and in the second stanza also my Austria was in the original version instead of the words of the name German Austria used, as can be seen in the above version in the uncommitted third stanza. However, the wording in my Austria fourth verse is authentic.
