Selector (disc jockey)

Selector is in the reggae and dancehall music called a DJ, so someone that plays on records or other sources to music stored in an individual choice in public and mix with each other.

The term comes from the Jamaican sound system culture. The term deejay on the other hand, which has been held in contrast to the DJ, means one who toasts - also in conjunction with singing. If the Deejay sings exclusively, it is called Singjay. The term Selector is used exclusively in reggae and dancehall.
