A Abistreich, Abischerz, Abigag or Abisturm (where " Abi " the colloquial shortening of high school diploma is, called in Switzerland and Austria Matura String ) is a youth ritual that is usually organized after the last final exam of high school graduates in their schools.

Especially in parts of Northern Germany, the term zero- day celebration is common.

In general, a spectacle is held where the lessons through the activities of high school graduates interrupted or stopped completely for the corresponding day of school.

For the flow of a Abistreiches there are completely different ways. Criticism

Abistreiche be tolerated in many schools and then usually have no further consequences. However, it also happens that the Abistreich is previously prohibited by the school administration. This may be the bad experiences at school with previous Abistreichen, for example by excessive alcohol consumption, physical injury to students or teachers and complaints from local residents. Even the great lessons to failure can be a reason. Other criticisms are that Abistreiche be misused for personal revenge actions of teachers, and may not, as usual, existing insurance coverage, accident consequences are therefore not protected as usual.

In many schools the Abistreiche are therefore now generally discussed in advance with the school administration, but the extent of monitoring and necessary " rubber stamping " by the director differs from school to school.
