Serge Baudo

Serge Baudo [ sɛʀʒ baʊ̯do ] (* July 16, 1927 in Marseille ) is a French conductor.

Serge Baudo completed his education in Paris in composition and conducting studies. He first worked for the French radio as a composer. He also composed music for films by Louis Malle and Jacques -Yves Cousteau. Since 1959 Baudo only worked as a conductor. In 1962, he became known to a wider audience when he opera Pelléas et Mélisande conducted on the recommendation of Herbert von Karajan at La Scala Claude Debussy. More successes came several years at the Festival of Aix -en- Provence. From 1970 to 1988 he directed the Orchestre National de Lyon as a music director. Baudo also strove for the work of Hector Berlioz by the French composer dedicated a festival in Lyon. As of 1998, Serge Baudo conducted numerous international orchestras. He repeatedly led performances at the Vienna State Opera. Since 2001 he has been music director of the Prague Symphony Orchestra.
