Sergei Bautin

Sergei Bautin (Russian: Сергей Викторович Баутин, Belarusian Сяргей Віктаравіч Баутін / Syarhey Wiktarawitsch Bautin; born March 11, 1967 in Rahatschou, Byelorussian SSR ) is a former Russian- Belarusian ice hockey player. He was with the selection of the CIS 1992 Olympic champion.

Career

Bautin began his career in 1988 in the Soviet second division club Crystal Saratov before moving to Dynamo Moscow joined the top division of the USSR in 1990. After the Olympic victory of the CIS, he was drafted as the 17th of the first round of the NHL Entry Draft in 1992 by the Winnipeg Jets in the NHL. After two years as a regular player with 130 inserts at the Jets, he moved in March 1994 to the Detroit Red Wings. However, when the Red Wings, he came only to a single use, Bautin came instead almost exclusively with the Adirondack Red Wings, a farm team of Detroit, are used. Even after a change in 1995 to the San Jose Sharks, he could not establish himself as a regular in the NHL, but left the team after also only use one again.

He then played two years (1996-1998) at Luleå HF in Sweden, one year each at Ak Bars Kazan in Russia (1998/ 99) and the Nuremberg Ice Tigers of the DEL (1999 /2000), in order after two years Japan at Oji Seishi Tokyo and a farewell season in Russia with Metallurg Magnitogorsk (2002/ 03) to end his active career.

Bautin was longtime national team of Russia, he took, among others, three World Championships ( 1992, 1997, 1999) and won with the selection of the CIS in 1992, the Olympic ice hockey tournament. He was honored with induction into the Russian and Soviet Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992.
