Sergey Martynov (wrestler)

Sergei Alexandrovich Martynov (Russian: Сергей Александрович Мартынов; born April 30, 1971, under other source March 20, 1971, † 1997 ) was a wrestler who competed for the Soviet Union, the CIS and Russia. He was four times world champion, three times European Champion and won at the 1992 Olympics, a silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at featherweight.

Career

Sergei Martynov, ancestrally a Russian, began as a teenager in 1981 with the rings. He concentrated on the Greco- Roman style. As a member of the Soviet and Russian armed forces, he was a member of the Army Sports clubs CSKA Moscow. His coach was W. Kanterman. The political situation in the years in which it was active, it brought with them that he competed for Russia for the Soviet Union in 1992 for the Commonwealth of Independent States, serving from 1993 to 1991. At a size of 1.66 meters, it became more and featherweight, the weight class which extended his time to 62 kg at. Sergei Martiynow died already in 1997, the causes of his death are unknown.

At the World Championships this year in Tampere Sergei Martynov again convinced, however, and became the third consecutive time world champion. At the European Championships in 1995 in Besancon he faced in the final Wlodzimierz Zawadzki, who had become his fiercest opponents. This then returned the favor at the World Championships in Prague in 1995 and was with wins over Robert Mazouch, Czech Republic, Bachodir Kurbanov, Uzbekistan, Mchitar Manukyan, Cho Sang -sun, South Korea, and Wlodzimierz Zawadzki for the fourth time world champion.

In the Olympic year 1996, Sergei Martynov in Budapest with wins over Matyas Magyes, Hungary, Usama Aziz, Sweden, Mehmet Akif Pirim, Aristides Rubinian, Greece, and Grigori Kamuschenko for the third time European champions. But with the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta he could meet his favorite role again not. He lost there against Juan Luis Maren Delis, triumphed over David S. Zuniga, then lost against Koba Guliaschwili from Georgia and joined the fight no longer around the 7th place against Mchitar Manukjan. He finished in 8th place.

The 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta were his last international competition before his untimely death in 1997. He was a very big of his sport.
