Sergey Volkonsky

Sergei Grigoryevich Wolkonski (Russian: Сергей Григорьевич Волконский, scientific transliteration Sergei Grigor'evič Volkonskij, December 8th, 1788 *, † November 28, 1865 ) was a Russian prince and one of the most active Decembrists.

Sergei Grigoryevich Wolkonski was the son of Prince Grigory Semenovich Wolkonski (1742-1824) and Princess Alexandra Nikolaevna Repnina ( 1756-1834 ). In January 1825 he married Maria Nikolaevna Rajewskaja, was made in December 1825 indictment and convicted of forced labor and exile in Siberia in July 1826 in connection with the Dekabristenprozess to 20 years. His wife followed him voluntarily into exile. In exile, her son Michael and daughter Elena were born.
