Sergio Pininfarina

Sergio Pininfarina (born 8 September 1926 in Turin Sergio Farina, † July 3, 2012 ) was an Italian industrial designer and politician. He became internationally known with body design for Ferrari, Fiat, Lancia and other Italian car companies and railroads.

Life

In 1950 he graduated from the Turin Polytechnic in Mechanical Engineering and joined his father's company Battista " Pinin " Farina. After his father's death in 1966 he was Director General of the now renamed Pininfarina company. From 1974 to 1977 taught at the Polytechnic Pininfarina in Turin. He was a member of the Partito Liberal Italiano. From 1979 to 1988 he was Member of Parliament for the Liberal and Democratic Reformist Group. He was succeeded as head of Pininfarina has first son Andrea Pininfarina. After this fatal accident in 2008, took over the second son, Paolo Farina, the conduit.

Awards

Pininfarina won in 2004 as a business owner and designer of the red dot design award: design team of the year. In October 2005, he was appointed by President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, together with Giorgio Napolitano on Senator for life.
