Sergio Zárate

Sergio Fabián Zárate ( born January 14, 1969 in Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine footballer.

He played from 1990 to 1995 ( with the exception of the 1992/93 season, in which he was at AC Ancona under contract ) for the 1st FC Nuremberg and Hamburger SV and completed in the Bundesliga 80 games and 23 goals. The diminutive striker was designated by the fans as a magic mouse. Even with his hometown club Velez Sarsfield he was called El Raton ( the mouse).

After his departure in 1995, when he was sentenced in connection with the financial scandal at the 1 FC Nuremberg for tax evasion and thereupon expressed disparagingly of Nuremberg and the journalists, he played until his retirement in late 2004 mainly in Mexico and Argentina.

He had a use for the Argentine national soccer team.

Today he works as a manager and advisor of his younger brother Mauro.
