Sergiu Nicolaescu

Sergiu Nicolaescu ( born April 13, 1930 in Târgu Jiu, † January 3, 2013 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian actor, film director and politician.

Life

At the age of five years Nicolaescu left with his parents, his birthplace; the family moved to Timişoara. He graduated from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest with a degree as an engineer and worked in the field of documentary and news coverage for the Studioul Cinematografic Alexandru Sahia.

Nicolaescu shot a series dramas, adventure films and historical materials and detective films. The best known, the two strips Dacii (1966) and Michael the Brave are (1970). Three times he was nominated at the Moscow Film Festival for the " Golden Prize " in 1970 for Michael the Brave, 1976 and 1985 for Osânda Ringul. His 1962 incipient career as a director includes more than 50 films.

After the 1989 revolution, in which Nicolaescu participated and during which he was admitted to the Council of the National Salvation Front, he supported the party Frontul Salvării National and was repeatedly elected as their representatives in various committees. Later he converted to Partidul Social Democrat ( PSD). On his initiative, a committee of inquiry was set up on the events of December 1989 in life, he first headed. 2004 Nicolaescu was appointed by Ion Iliescu in the National Council of Institutului Revoluţiei novels. In 2011 he resigned from the PSD. After he had been operated on 28 December 2012 due to peritonitis, occurred a few days later, cardiac and pulmonary problems. On January 3, 2013 Nicolaescu died in Bucharest's Elias Hospital.

1989, 1990, 1992, 1993 and 1994 staged Sergiu Nicolaescu the Karl May Festival in Bad Segeberg.
