Serra do Divisor National Park

The Sierra del Divisor ( Spanish), Portuguese Serra do Divisor, is a 200 to 600 meter high central mountain highlands between the outermost ( North ) western Brazil and eastern Peru.

The mountain range separates - hence divisor - the Brazilian states of Acre and a small part of it north of the Peruvian Amazon region of Loreto and Ucayali. It also serves as the watershed between the rivers Ucayali in Peru and Juruá in Brazil.

The area is predominantly composed of rainforest and has a high biodiversity. The Brazilian is with almost 847,000 acres of national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Peruvian, with around 1.5 million hectares is under protection. Examples of endangered primates are Red Uakari and Jumps Amarin.

The human settlement is low. There are several indigenous ethnic groups. The largest settlements are located in the peripheral regions of the two great rivers Ucayali and Juruá.
