The Sesiinae are a subfamily of butterflies within the family of Clearwing ( Sesiidae ). You are the world, except Antarctica with so far 1040 species are known.

Features

The representatives of the Sesiinae are characterized by different club- shaped sensors which are equipped with a ventral independent, always built in the same hair brush at the top and curved eyelashes. The vein CuP of hind wings is regressed or absent, their position is, however, recognized by an overlapping line. Infinite Regress the male has rear extensions and a distinct sac. The Valven are provided with double or multiple bifurcated chitinisierten sensory hairs. The Chaetosemata on the sides of the head are straight and are limited to the posterior edge of the head. The back -to-back lying on the front part of the Epimerons the pleura on mesothorax forms a characteristic protuberance, which covers the seam between the pleurae.

System

The Sesiinae be divided into six tribes. The following list of species is limited to the 109 species occurring in Europe in four tribes, represented in Central Europe, 48 species are indicated correspond to (A, CH, D).
