Session

Session (Latin sessio of sedere, sit ) is derived from the Latin and common in the English word whose German translation session. In Latin or English embossed areas Session is also common in German, often in the English pronunciation, eg for

  • One extending over a longer period meeting or session, especially in the Swiss Parliament the autumn, winter, spring and summer session. In this meaning, the word is not pronounced in English.
  • In the Rhenish carnival the festival period from 11 November to Ash Wednesday the following year (also: carnival season ). In this meaning, the word is not pronounced in English.
  • Specifically, as an abbreviation for jam sessions in jazz and rock music
