Seyni Oumarou

Seini Oumarou ( born August 9, 1950 in Tilabéri ) is a Nigerien politician and served from 2007 to 2009 Prime Minister of Niger. He is from the west of the country, belongs to the ethnicity of the Zarma and is chairman of the party National Movement of the Development Society ( MNSD - Nassara ).

Life

Oumarou was 1987-1998 General Director of Entreprise Nigérienne de transformation du paper ( ENITRAP ). In 1995 he became a member of the Prime Minister Hama Amadou. On 16 April 1999, he was appointed Minister of Trade and Industry. Under the military regime of Daouda Malam Wanké and after the subsequent elections, he remained a part of the government Hama Amadou, Prime Minister was again. His ministry has been renamed several times. On 12 November 2004 Oumarou was also responsible for health care. He fought against endemic diseases and to a reform of the hospitals. On 30 December 2004, he was Minister of State for facilities in a new government. In this position, he had the third highest rank according to Amadou and State Minister Abdou Labo. He remained in this position, as Amadou and his government lost a no-confidence vote on 31 May 2007.

President Tandja Mamadou chose Oumarou on June 3, 2007 as the Prime Minister. He was nominated by MNSD - Nassara for this position and was one of three candidates who were asked to choose from before the National Assembly. Oumarous appointment was made against the opposition of the Democratic and Social Rally ( CDS Rahama ) and a number of social organizations, because he was closely associated with his predecessor and was possibly involved in the scandal that led to the vote of no confidence. Oumarou was sworn in on June 8. Its 32 -member government was appointed on June 9. Oumarou said on 13 July 2007, his government would not with the rebel group Movement of people in Niger for Justice ( MNJ ) negotiate in northern Niger.

Oumarou was first president of the MNSD - Nassara Association in Tilabéri and a vice president of the National Political Bureau of the party. In 2009 he was chairman of the party. After his retirement from the post of Prime Minister Seini Oumarou was of 25 November 2009 to 18 February 2010 Chairman of the National Assembly.
