SGI Octane

The Octane is a workstation that has been built and marketed by SGI in the years 1997-2000. The workstation had its focus in the graphics processing and the CAD processing. It is a 2 -WAY SMP-capable architecture whose CPU is based on the MIPS R10000 processor.

Main memory

The Octane supports 256 MB to 8 GB of memory. The main memory consists of proprietary 200 -pin DIMM modules. The first versions of the workstation ( motherboard 030-0887-003 ) supports a maximum of 2 GB of RAM.
