Shaftesbury

Shaftesbury is a town in the north of Dorset, England. The city is located about 200 meters above sea level. In 2001, the city had 6665 residents with 3112 households. From 1001 to the Reformation it was called Edwardstowe, as in the Shaftesbury Abbey the remains of the martyr were Edward.

The city is located on the Blackmore Valley and a piece on the River Stour. From various vantage points you can see Glastonbury Tor and the Isle of Purbeck.

Shaftesbury is particularly famous for Gold Hill, a staircase, steep road ( which was used for " Hovis bread " in advertising ).
