Shaker (instrument)

The shaker is a musical instrument. In the family of Idiophone it belongs to the Schüttelidiophonen ( rattles ). It is usually made of bamboo or metal and can be filled with different things such as seeds, rice, peas, rocks or sand.

Through rhythmic shaking of the tube, the beating against itself and the wall body produce the same sounding noise. These noises can take on the task of meter in a piece of music.
