The Shakhtar Stadium is a multifunctional arena in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. The home matches of Shakhtar Karaganda is primarily used to be hosted there.

History

The stadium was built in 1958, as the home team, the Class "B" (then 3rd League ) was added. The seating capacity was 10,000 seats. On August 12, 1958, the first international match was played against a Chinese team (1:1). In the early 1960s, the stadium was remodeled to accommodate the rise in the second league. Now the modernized stadium provided with floodlighting 28,000 spectators.

Again, the stadium was modernized in 2001. The old wooden benches were replaced by the new plastic bucket seats. The stadium holds since 19.000. The venue meets the international requirements. As a natural grass playing surface is laid.
