Shaki District

Şəki, also Sheki, is a rayon in Azerbaijan. The district encircles the city Şəki.

Geography

The rayon has an area of ​​2397 km ². The district is located in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus and is partially wooded. The river flows through the Kish rayon.

Population

The district has 170,400 inhabitants.

Culture

In the district lie the remains of the fortress Gelersen - Gerersen and ancient churches from the time Albanias in the villages of Orta Zeizit and Kish.
