Shalom

? The Hebrew term shalom / i [ שלום ] ( English spelling: shalom ) means first of integrity, healing, peace; it is not only liberation from every calamity and misfortune, but also about health, welfare, safety and tranquility.

" The peace which alone reconciles and strengthens, soothes us and our face picture brightens, makes us free from unrest and from the enslavement by unsatisfied desires, gives us the awareness of the achievements, the consciousness of time, in the midst of our own mortality and that of all externals. "

Shalom applies since the times of the Bible ( Tanakh ) as a key word in Judaism and is the most common greeting among Jews. The word is based on the meaningful in the Semitic -speaking root slm, and is related to the Arab Salām very closely.

The name of King Solomon goes back to the same root.
