Shane Connaughton

Shane Connaughton ( born April 4, 1941 in Kingscourt, County Cavan, Ireland ) is a British actor, author and screenwriter.

Life

Connaughton spent his early youth with four brothers and three sisters in Kingscourt. At the age of ten he moved with his family to Redhills. As a young man he went to London, where he initially pursued different professions to visit with 20 years of the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He then worked as an actor at the Royal National Theatre and the Abbey Theatre, Dublin. From the 1970s, he also starred in the British television series such as Coronation Street. In 1980 he wrote the screenplay for the short film The Dollar Bottom, which was awarded the Oscar. In 1990 he was nominated for his screenplay for My Left Foot for an Oscar. The year before, he published his first novel, A Border Station, followed in 1991 The Run of the Country. In 1995, he adapted his novel into the screenplay for the feature film The Land of my love. His third novel, Big Parts, appeared in 2009.

Connaughton is married and has two children.
