Shannon Tavarez

Shannon Skye Tavárez (born 20 January 1999 Bellerose, Queens, New York City; † November 1, 2010 in New Hyde Park, New York) was an American child actress.

Life

Tavarez attended Public School 176 in Queens. With an open audition it was 2008 for the role of Nala selected in the Broadway production of the Disney musical The Lion King. From September 2009 she joined seven months in the Minskoff Theatre in New York.

In April 2010, acute myeloid leukemia she was diagnosed with. After no bone marrow donor could be found, put the DKMS Americas ( the American branch of the German Bone Marrow Donor Center ) is a video on the Internet, where Tavarez asked for help. Various known artists including Alicia Keys, Rihanna and 50 Cent asked their fans then to register as potential donors.

Shannon Tavarez died at the age of 11 years in the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center (part of the Long Iceland Jewish Medical Center ) in New York City.
