Share taxi

A taxi is internationally a special type of taxi in which the provider has a fixed start and end points (for example, the connection between two cities). Depending on the agreement, the end point of the passenger can be determined, for example, from the airport to the residence of the passengers. Most minibuses with (official) are used 7-10 seater, small passenger car with four seats rather rare. A distinction is the taxi from public transport call - a-ride (AST ).

Worldwide distribution

The shape of a taxis is widespread in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

In Africa (excluding North Africa) it is called, among other things bush taxi or taxi according to the French translation (de) Brousse, in East Africa and Tanzania Matatu Daladala. This type of transport can be different within the villages. The price is negotiated before departure. In such a shared taxi may be usually gotten anywhere on the prescribed route. However, the boarding is possible only at the starting point and no longer within the route section.

In Latin America, are the names of the shared taxis " colectivo " or Publico. They are an inexpensive alternative to the "normal" taxi.

In Russia and adjacent areas taxis are called Marschrutka. The most common type of car there is the GAZelle, a van produced in the country.

Private taxi services could be anywhere develop where public transport is not available or poorly developed. In some cases, such as in Johannesburg, the taxi owners come organized and massively against the establishment of a public bus, because they fear for their livelihoods.
