Sharon Salzberg

Sharon Salzberg (* 1952 in New York City ) is an American Buddhist meditation teacher and author.

Life

Sharon Salzberg came in 1969 during a philosophy course at the State University of New York, Buffalo, with Buddhism in contact. From 1970 to 1974 she lived in India, where she in 1971 in Bodhgaya made ​​an intensive meditation course for the first time. Upon her return to the United States Sharon Salzberg Vipassana meditation began to teach. Together with Joseph Goldstein and Jack Kornfield 1976, she founded the Insight Meditation Society ( IMS) in Barre, Massachusetts.
