Shawn Ryan

Shawn Ryan ( born October 11, 1966 in Rockford, Illinois) is an American television producer and screenwriter. He is creator of the famous U.S. TV series The Shield and the short-lived crime drama The Chicago Code.

Life and work

Shawn Ryan earned a degree from Middlebury College in the U.S. state of Vermont, where he had studied theater and economics. He began his television career as a contract writer for the U.S. television series Nash Bridges. Then worked as a television producer for the series Angel - active hunter of darkness, for which he also wrote an episode. Then he conceived the television series The Shield, for which he acted as Executive Producer to a sequence and also most of the effects wrote. For the television series, he was engaged with David Mamet as showrunner. From 2009 to 2011, he served as showrunner for the TV series Lie to Me. In 2011 he held the post of the Creator and Executive Producer in the short-lived Fox crime drama The Chicago Code.

Shawn Ryan is with actress Cathy Cahlin Ryan, who plays one of the lead roles in the television series The Shield, married and has two children with her.
