Sherman Brothers

The brothers Robert Bernard Sherman ( born December 19, 1925 in New York City; † March 5, 2012 in London) and Richard Morton Sherman ( born June 12, 1928 in New York City ) was an American composer duo of the mid fifties up to the early seventies of the 20th century.

Life and Style

They are mainly known for their collaboration with Walt Disney, for whose films they wrote numerous songs and film scores. The most successful were the film and subsequent stage musical Mary Poppins and the musical animated film The Jungle Book. However, they also composed the songs for the film musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The Sherman Brothers composed swing and jazz and country and folk songs. Most songs she composed were intended for movies.
