Sherri Martel

Sherri Russell ( born February 8, 1958 in New Orleans, Louisiana, † 15 June 2007 in Birmingham, Alabama) was an American professional wrestler. She was primarily known under her ring name Sherri Martel and was active in many independent leagues.

Career

Sherri Russell began her career as an active wrestler and was instrumental in the success of the women's wrestling. So she was allowed to hold four times the AWA World Women's Title and the WWF World Women's Title. Later it was used primarily as a ring attendant ( manager ). As Diva of Shawn Michaels, she sang the original version of the background music at the beginning appearance. Russell left the WWF in 1993.

After a short commitment in Extreme Championship Wrestling in 1994, she moved to World Championship Wrestling, where he was under the name Sister Sherri the ring accompanist for the tag team Harlem Heat, which consisted of Booker T and Stevie Ray. In 2004, she was named by a survey by the magazine Sports Illustrated as one of the most beautiful of wrestling.

On the side of Kurt Angle in 2005 she had some cameo appearances in the WWE.

On 1 April 2006 it was introduced by Ted DiBiase into the WWE Hall of Fame. Sherri Martel died on 15 June 2007 in her mother's house of heart failure.
