Shiki (novel series)

Shiki (Japanese尸 鬼, dt " Corpse Demon " ) is a horror novel, which was written by Fuyumi Ono. It was first published in two parts in 1998 by Shinchosha. In 2002 a reprint, but this was spread across five volumes appeared. An adaptation of the action as manga is drawn by Ryu Fujisaki since 2007 and published in the magazine Jump SQ. This closed in 2010 an eponymous anime television series, which was produced by Studio Tom Thumb.

Action

The story takes place in a particularly hot summer in the 1990s in a small quiet village called Sotoba. A series of mysterious deaths begins in the village, around the same time when a strange family moves into the long abandoned Kanemasa mansion. Toshio Ozaki, head of the only local hospital in Sotoba initially sought an epidemic. But what is clear, according to studies, he finds out that the undead plaguing the village. A young man named Natsuno Yūki who hates village life begins to be pursued and surrounded by death.

The novel was written by Shiki Japanese writer Fuyumi Ono. Originally it appeared as tightly bound version in two parts, which appeared in September 1998 from the publisher Shinchosha. In 2002 there was a new edition in tankōbon format by the same publisher, which covered five volumes.

Adaptations

Manga

Based on the series of novels and their action was pursuing the eponymous manga series Shiki, which is drawn by Ryu Fujisaki. The series was published by December 2007 ( issue 1/ 2008) to June 2011 ( issue 7 /2011) in Shueisha's monthly magazine Jump SQ. The chapters have been summarized ( tankōbon ) in eleven anthologies:

Since May 2013, the series is published in German as Shi Ki at Egmont Manga and Anime with the previous six volumes.

Illustrated audio play

In addition, Shueisha published on Internet radio and comic site VOMIC a radio play with manga illustrations of 4 and 25 December 2008, four chapters. The drawings also came from Ryu Fujisaki.

Anime

An adaptation of the novel as an anime television series was announced in December 2009 on the Japanese official website. Was the animated series from the studio Tom Thumb, directed by Tetsuro Animo. The marketing was taken over by Aniplex under the rail noitaminA program.

In the series of the famous musician Gackt had his first regular appearance as a speaker in an anime. He said the role of Shojiro Kirishiki it.

First aired the series with 22 episodes from July 9 to 31 December 2010 after midnight (and thus on the previous TV day ) on the Japanese station Fuji TV. At a distance of about a week also began the transmitter Kansai TV, Tōkai TV, BS Fuji and UHB with the transfer. In parallel, Funimation secured the license for a simulcast of the series broadcast with English subtitles to who ran one hour after the first transmission.

From 27 October to 22 December 2010, Series of Aniplex was released on DVD and Blu -ray Disc, with two additional episodes were released here.

Music

In the opening credits of the series of episodes 1 through 11, a short version of the title Kuchizuke (くちづけ) was played, which was interpreted by Buck -Tick. In the credits of the title Walk no Yakusoku (walkの 約束) was used, which was sung by nangi. In the opening credits sequence from 12 a short version of the title Calendula Requiem (カレンデュラ レクイエム) of the group Kanon × Kanon, consisting of singer and cellist Kanon Wakeshima and bassist Kanon of An Cafe tape was played.
