The Shivalik class ( Project 17) is a production run of three frigates with stealth technology that has been built for the Indian Navy.

Technology

The 6,200 -ton frigates have a crew of 257 men. The stand-alone design India has a mix of weapons and sensors Russian, Western and Israeli origin. The local share of India is about 60 % of the value. So come sonar and U- defense systems from their own country, as well as the Kavach decoys. The armament consists of two Barak -1 short-range air defense systems and eight club VLM missile systems with ranges of 30 and 300 km and Shtil -1 Luftabwehraketen medium range. Furthermore, the ships RBU 6000 Smerch have 2 24 provisional U- defense missiles starter and produced in India under license Oto Melara 76 mm guns. The 142 m long frigates put beyond the aft flight deck of two U- Save- a helicopter.
