Shivan Qaderi

Schuaneh Ghaderi or Sivan Ghaderi or Sayed Kamal Asfaram in Persian: شوانه قادری, سید کمال اسفرم

( Born 1979 or 1980July 9, 2005 in Mahabad ) was a Kurd from Iran. He was a student and opposition.

The 26 -year-old man was shot on the run on 9 July 2005 by the Iranian police in Mahabad in an attempted arrest. His body, which was handed over to his parents, was mutilated. He was an important organizer of demonstrations against the Iranian government in the run up to the presidential elections in Iran in 2005. According to a report by the U.S. government to Iranian soldiers have brought his body into a military vehicle and then dragged him through the city. According to the U.S. government this was done with the intention to intimidate the population and deter future protests. He had been accused of calling for the independence of Kurdistan and to celebrate the appointment of Kurdish Jalal Talabani as President of Iraq. Following his death, there were violent protests from July to August in Mahabad and other cities in the Kurdish areas. Thus, thousands gathered on the Car Cira Square. In these demonstrations, several people died. The Iranian government sent 100,000 troops to the region to quell the unrest.
