Shoalhaven Scheme#Tallowa Dam

The Lake is a reservoir Yarrunga southwest of Wollongong in the south east of the Australian state of New South Wales in the coastal mountains. The lake is dammed by the Tallowa Dam and is located on the lower reaches of the Kangaroo River and the Shoalhaven River. He is also the Yarrunga Creek and from Bundanoon Creek, tributaries of the Kangaroo River, fed and used for energy for the Greater Wollongong.

The water can be pumped from Lake Yarrunga to Fitzroy Falls Reservoir and discharged through the plant again. Therefore, there is a pump storage power plant.

On the north shore of the lake lies the settlement Bendeela. The small town of Bundanoon is located about 12 km (air line) north above the lake at Bundanoon Creek. By road it is, however, accessible only after a journey of 62 km. The small town of Kangaroo Valley is located at the upper end of the lake at the Kangaroo River.
