Shortridge's langur ( Trachypithecus shortridgei )

The Shortridge's langur ( Trachypithecus shortridgei ) is a little known primate from the group of monkeys Slim ( Presbytini ). He was formerly considered a subspecies of the Kappenlangurs, which it resembles in the coat color.

Shortridge's langur, like all Haubenlanguren slim primate with a tail that is longer than the body. They live in Myanmar east of the Chindwin River and in southwestern China ( Yunnan ). The distribution thus follows on from that of Kappenlangurs, the west of the Chindwin occurs. Habitat of this type are hilly forests.

About the way of life nothing is known, probably agrees with that of the other Haubenlanguren match. Consequently, these animals are diurnal and arboreal, they live in groups and feed on leaves and other plant material.

The IUCN lists the Shortridge's langur ( as a subspecies of Kappenlangurs ) as endangered ( endangered ). The reasons for this lie in the hunting and the destruction of their habitat.
