Showbiz is the first studio album by British rock band Muse. With the 1999 album Muse managed to draw attention to themselves. The internationally known single Muscle Museum is included on this album.

Despite two previously published successful EPs they found in the UK no record company. So the band was signed in late 1998 by the U.S. company Maverick Records. As a producer for the album John Leckie has been committed, who had worked with Radiohead on The Bends. Not least because the album is said to have a strong influence by Radiohead and Muse had to be compared with them often. The album is influenced largely by the aggressive style of the band. Bellamy often " fearful voice, esoteric texts and dramatic breakthroughs in sound dynamics " refer to the hard time in Teignmouth, as the band wanted to establish. After the album's release, the band performed at the opening act for bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers or Foo Fighters. In these concerts in the U.S., the band played in front of up to 20,000 spectators. With appearances at European festivals and concerts in Japan and Australia, the group earned a substantial fan base.
