Shuhei Kuji

Shūhei Kuji (Japanese久 慈 修 平, Kuji Shūhei; * 27 April 1987 in Tomakomai, Hokkaidō ) is a Japanese hockey player, who is since 2010 in the Ōji Eagles of the Asia League Ice Hockey under contract.

Career

Shūhei Kuji began his career as a hockey player at the Komazawa University, for their hockey team, he was active until 2005. In the season 2005/ 06, the striker played for Komazawa Tomakomai, before he joined the team from Waseda University. After four years for the team of academics forge, he moved in 2010 to the Asia League Ice Hockey Ōji to the Eagles, with whom he won the league in 2012 in the playoff finals against the Nikko Ice Bucks. A year later, the team won, although again the main round, but lost the playoff series against the Tohoku Free Blades.

Internationally

For Japan Kuji already took part in U18 and U20 World Championships. For the Japanese men's team, he stood for the first time at the 2009 World Championships in Division I on the ice. Also at the World Championships in 2012 and 2013 he was active in Japan in the Division I. In the Asian Winter Games 2011 in Astana, he won the silver medal with his team. He also took part in the Olympic qualifiers for the 2014 Games in Sochi in November 2012. However, the Japanese failed in the first qualifying round despite home advantage - the tournament was held in Nikko - by a 1-2 defeat in the decisive match against Great Britain.
