Shukhov Tower on the Oka River

The Nigres power line pole ( overhead line masts of the Oka overhead line crossing Dzerzhinsk, Russian Шуховская башня на Оке, Опора ЛЭП НиГРЭС ) is a 128 meters high pylon on hyperbolic Oka shore at Dzerzhinsk.

It was built in 1929 as one of two identical high voltage power line towers, by the Russian engineer Vladimir Shukhov. By removing the lines for laying of high voltage range, the masts were since 1989 without function. Four smaller supply masts were demolished it. In March 2005, one of the two remaining large masts was pulled down.

Although the two large masts had to bear the burden of power line cables, they are still lighter and finely divided constructed as the Shukhov radio tower in Moscow. The gradual change of the lattice structure from the bottom upwards following clearer rules.
