The Shura Council (Arabic مجلس الشورى, DMG maǧlis aš - Sura, German transcription: Majlis ash- Shura ) is a consultative body which acts as the upper house of Egyptian bicameral parliamentary system.

The Egyptian Shura Council was introduced in 1980 with a constitutional amendment. It consists of 264 members, of which 174 directly elected for six years and 88 appointed by the President of the State of Egypt. Half of the members every three years is estimated. The Council has the legislative power with the Egyptian People's Assembly.

In the first round, 3,543,972 people voted; in the second round 2606126 ( turnout about 12 % around 9%).

After Mohammed Mursi had come to power in mid-2012, was the once only " inconsequential consultative chamber " an Islamist- dominated " emergency parliament ". Mursi was toppled by the Egyptian military on July 3, 2013 Interim president Adli Mansur solved (as the first official act ) to the Shura Council. New elections are announced.
