Shutruk-Nakhunte

Šutruk - nahhunte II (also Schutruk - nahhunte, Sutruk - nahhunte ) reigned from about 1185 to 1155 BC as elamitischer king. He was the second ruler of the dynasty Šutrukiden. Because of his conquest of Babylon Šutruk - nahhunte considered the most important Elamite rulers. Life

Šutruk - nahhunte was the son of Hallutuš - Inšušinak, known only by the mention in more than 450 inscribed bricks of his son and obviously was the founder of a new dynasty. Šutruk - nahhunte is known by a large number of inscriptions which prove the extensive construction of the ruler. He let the Inšušinak temple in Susa extend a portico. Over 400 labeled bricks report of this building. The building was extended with a goal of glazed tiles. Other surviving works in Susa, the restoration of a gate in the temple of Inšušinak.

Four brick mention that the ruler who extended the temple of Kiririscha - of - Liyan, or at least renovate. Other works are attested in Deh - e Now, where he expand the Temple of Manzat.

Steles from almost all parts of his kingdom and the plundered Babylonia in 1158 attest his claim to power. They were mostly provided with an inscription of the ruler, which holds its origin. Šutruk - nahhunte was married to a daughter of the Kassite king Meli- Sipak whose name is not known.

Campaigns

Šutruk - nahhunte has become known primarily for his campaigns. In various inscriptions he tells of the conquest of various cities, most probably in Mesopotamia. The most famous expedition led to Babylon, where the rulers brought rich booty, including probably the famous stele of Hammurabi laws and the Victory Stele of Naram -Sin (now in the Louvre ).
