Siagne

Mouth of the Siagne in Mandelieu- la -Napoule

The Siagne is a river in France, which runs in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur. It arises under the name Vallon de Thiey on the southern flank of the mountain massif Montagne Thiey, in the Regional Natural Park Préalpes d' Azur, in the municipality of Escragnolles, initially dewatered southwest direction, then turns to the southeast and ends just west of Cannes after 44 kilometers, in the municipality Mandelieu -la -Napoule, in the Mediterranean Sea. On their way the Siagne crosses the Alpes-Maritimes department, and forms on a long haul and the border with the neighboring Var.

Hydrographic

In the upper reaches of the river water is extracted and discharged via the Canal de la Siagne to supply drinking water to the cities of Grasse and Cannes.

Attractions

The valley in the upper reaches of the river is registered under the name of Gorges de la Siagne as a Natura 2000 site under the code FR9301574.
