Sidama-Zone

The Sidama zone is an administrative zone in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Your almost 3 million inhabitants are mainly Sidama.

Population

According to the Central Statistics Agency ( CSA), the zone in 2007 had 2,966,652 inhabitants, of which 5.67% were living in urban areas in the year. For 2005, the CSA Awassa, Yirgalem, Aleta Wendo, leku and Daye lists the largest cities.

In 1994, of 2,044,836 inhabitants 88.6 % Sidama, Amhara 4.15%, 2.97% and 1.84 % Oromo Wolaytta; 2.44% belonged to other ethnic groups. The proportions of the native languages ​​( Sidama, Amharic, Oromo, Wolaytta ) met the interests of the ethnic groups. 62.54 % of the population were Protestants, 13.64 % followers of traditional religions, 8.24% Orthodox Christians, 8 % Muslim and 4.24 % Catholic.

Structure

The Sidama zone is divided into the nine woredas Aleta Wendo, Arbegona, Aroresa, Awassa, Bensa, Dale, Hara, Hula and Shebedino.
