Sidi Barrani

Sidi Barrani (Arabic سيدي براني, DMG Sīdī Barrani ) is a small town in the northwestern part of Egypt. Named after Sidi el Barrani it - Saadi, a Senussi sheikh who was a head of his Zawiya. The place is now mainly a Bedouin town without significant economic or tourist development.

Sidi Barrani is known mainly by the fighting during the African campaign, taken in the course of which place on 16 September 1940 by Italian troops, but was recaptured on 10 and 11 December again by British associations. In 1942, the city changed hands twice the occupiers.
