Siegfried II of Querfurt

Siegfried of cross- ford ( * before 1279, † May 5, 1310 ) was from 1279 to 1310 when Siegfried II Bishop of Hildesheim.

Siegfried was first dean at the Cathedral of Magdeburg. On July 18, 1279, he was elected Bishop of Hildesheim.

He had to contend against the Duchy of Brunswick -Lüneburg.

On September 5, 1291 he gave the resulting Minoritenkloster in Hanover, the top property on a plot of land in the Old Town.

He gave Gronau city law. In love Castle and Ruthe he had each built a castle. In love castle, this was the Liebenburg. In 1302 he bought goods at Westerhof. In 1310 he extended the sphere of influence of the Bishopric of Hildesheim by buying the county of Dassel.

During his tenure, the efforts of the city of Hildesheim fall for independence from the diocese of Hildesheim.
