  • Friedrich von Montalban is Bishop of Freising.
  • Erfurt: Archdiocesan officials are abused and driven out of the city. The Archbishop of Mainz responds with a curse. The interdict imposed busy two and a half years on the town.
  • Pope Nicholas III. stands on the side of the moderate Franciscans, while the strict Observant ( cf. Spirituals ) come into conflict with the papacy and later viewed by the Inquisition as a heretic. ( Culture timetable)
  • The Franciscan Petrus Johannis Olivi is displayed because of its commitment to the evangelical perfection ( poverty) of the Order and for the renewal of the Church to the Order General Girolami d' Ascoli (the future Pope Nicholas IV ).
  • Bernard Gui, who later became Inquisitor and religious writer, comes to Limoges in the Dominican Order.
