Sierra Blanca (Andalusia)

The Sierra Blanca is a mountain range in the hinterland of the Costa del Sol in Andalucia in Spain. The name refers to the white marble rock, from which this mountainous region is mainly composed.

Location

The mountain range is situated between the Costa del Sol and the Sierra de las Nieves and is roughly bordered by the cities of Istan, Ojén, Monda and Marbella.

Mountains

The highest peak is 1,275 m high Cerro Lastonar. However, the known strikingly visible from the coast of Pico de la Concha ( 1,270 m), so called in the West, because, like the shell of a striped mussel appears. Other peaks are the Salto del Lobo ( 1.225m ) Cerro de la Zarina ( 1,141 m) and the Cruz de Juanar in the East ( 1,178 m).
