Sierras Pampeanas

With Sierras Pampeanas is a series of mountain ranges in central and western Argentina that do not belong to the Andes. Pull almost exclusively in north-south direction to and form their own climate with dry winters and wet summers.

The highest elevation in the Sierras Pampeanas is the Nevado de Famatina in the province of La Rioja with 6250 meters, but bring it most of the Sierras only at altitudes below 4000 meters.

The term has come to be for a region in the west-central Argentina, in which there are more of these mountain ranges. This region includes the western part of the province of Córdoba, the north of the San Luis province and the eastern provinces of San Juan, La Rioja and Catamarca.
