Siglo XX (Spanish for the 20th century ) is the name of the famous Bolivian tin mine. It lies on the edge of town in the province of Llallagua Rafael Bustillo in the department of Potosí. It was repeatedly the scene of labor disputes and many of the miners were active members of the Bolivian miners' union Federación de Trabajadores Mineros de Bolivia Sindical ( FSTMB ). History

The mine was acquired I. Patiño in the 1910s by " Zinnkönig " Simón.

As part of the Bolivian National Revolution of 1952, Víctor Paz Estenssoro, the mine was nationalized after the Movimiento Nacionalista Revolucionario (MNR ) had driven the existing military junta. Massacre of 1967

Closure

In 1987 Siglo XX was shut down. This was a consequence of an economic structure agreement with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
