Sigmund Riefler

Sigmund Riefler ( born August 9, 1847 in Maria Rain, † October 21, 1912 in Munich) was a German physicist, inventor and precision watchmaking.

Life

Sigmund Riefler was born on August 9, 1847 in Maria Rain, the son of drawing instruments and clocks - makers Clemens Riefler. He attended trade school in Kaufbeuren and trained in his father's business virtually as a mechanic from. In the years 1865-70 he studied at the Technical University in Munich, mathematics, geodesy and engineering at the University of Munich and physics and astronomy. He then worked as an engineer at the Royal Prussian Land Surveying in Schleswig.

1876 ​​after the death of his father he took over with two brothers ( and Adolf Theodor ) the continuation of the company Clemens Riefler.
