Siissisoq
Siissisoq (Eng. Rhino ) is a Rock-/Metal-Band from Uummannaq, Greenland. It was founded in 1998.
Band History
In 1998, their first album Siissisoq Aammarpassuillu on the market. It tells stories about African animals.
The idea of this album was the guitarist Karl Enok Mathiassen on a journey through Africa. When he came back to the north of Greenland, he wrote nine songs on Kalaallisut, which were all named after animals. The album's success was immense in Greenland: Two months held it at the top of the Top 20 and was sold 3,000 times - with a population of 50,000. Outside their home country, they became known united by a compilation called Rock from the Cold Seas, the bands from Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Lapland.
In 1999, the band toured through Iceland and Denmark.
2001 release a live album with the same title as that of the debut album.
