SIL Open Font License

The SIL Open Font License ( OFL ) is a from the Summer Institute of Linguistics ( SIL International now ) issued free license to the licensing of fonts that was acknowledged by the Free Software Foundation to be free - so-called open source fonts.

Under the OFL licensed fonts include Gentium eg, Linux Libertine, Charis SIL or Doulos SIL.

Properties

Similarly, the GPL allows this License, through them licensed software: copy (in this case digital fonts) are free to use, modify, and distribute ( as part of another software system ). However, the license goes into a few cases, of which fonts are concerned. A derivative work must not be provided with the same name ( without the consent of the author ). Furthermore, the licensed font must not be sold alone. Finally it should be noted that this license explicitly not to documents that use a licensed font effect. Only the font itself is affected by it.
