Silec

Silec ( [ ɕilɛt͡s ], German Schülzen ) is a village and seat of a Schulz Office ( sołectwo ) in Poland in the Warmia - Mazury. It belongs to the municipality Srokowo in powiat Kętrzyński. To the mayor's office consists of the villages Podlasie, Siemkowo and Silecki Folwark.

Geography

Silec located in northern Poland, approximately 17 kilometers south of the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast. North of the village is the Silecer lake.

History

Today's Silec was probably created by the Rastenburger procurator Heinrich von Plauen in the 14th century and was called Kleinheinrich village. 1437 was counted to the village covers an area of ​​54 hooves. 1817 23 buildings were counted with 147 inhabitants in the village. 1933 lived 424 inhabitants, 369 in 1939 Schülzen. 1945, at the end of the Second World War, the Red Army marched into the area.
