The Terribly Sad Princess (AKA: Silene smutná princezna ) is a Czechoslovakian fairy tale film from the year 1968.

Action

The son of King Jindřich to be married to the daughter of King Dobromysl, but flees when his father wants to take him to the princess. In his escape, he arrived at a park and becomes acquainted with a pert young woman. With their help he attempts to enter the palace of the princess, but there arrested by the guards.

Meanwhile, the father of Prince reached the palace without his son, since this was ill. The girl turns out to be the princess and the prince holds for an emissary of her promised bridegroom. She does not want the Prince, but his emissaries to marry; since this is so poor and she could marry him, the princess decides to be sad like a fairy tale.

Meanwhile, the two kings learn the truth about their children. The condition of the princess is holding on to the chagrin of her father despite laughter lessons and showing of Charlie Chaplin movies. As also causes house arrest nothing can be king in his kingdom Dobromysl prohibit the laughter. Finally, the plan of the two royal children going on when the King that of his daughter's hand promises that can make them laugh; at failure threatens the Hangman. When the prince wants to try his luck, the spies reveal his identity. The disappointed princess can not cheer the Prince and want him to send away initially, but can be swayed by him.

While King Dobromysl hesitate to put to death the Prince, this becomes engaged to the princess. The fathers of the newly minted fiancé are unnerved by the indecision of their children. At the wedding feast the princess is reluctant at first, because the prince was smaller than it; but when the Prince touches to the wedding crown, this problem is solved.

Background

The comedy contains modern elements like pipe mail letters and cameras that produce only paper cuts and hammer January interpreted by the main cast film music.

The custom built by DEFA German dubbed version is about 20 minutes shorter than the original. For example, missing the song Kujme pikle, which sing the two spies.
